6 night safari overview
This 6 night safari consisting of 3 nights in Kafue Rive Lodge and 3 nights at Mashoze Mobile Camp on the edge of the famous Busanga Plains. It allows you to experience what we feel are the two most stunning, yet vastly different, areas of the Kafue National Park.
Day 1 - 3: Arrival at Kafue River Lodge
You will arrive at the Kafue River, unwind and refresh in one of the spaciously built chalets, enjoy a sundowner on a gentle boat cruise down the river or on the lappa extending over it. The next day you can see a variety of game by simply sitting on front of the deck or go explore the area also by driving, walking, boating and even cycling.
Day 3 - 6: Mashoze Mobile Camp, Busanga Plains
Mashose Mobile Camp is situated at the northern edge of the Busanga Plains. It is a basic camping set up but with a senior guide, chef and camp hand to cater for you. Each dome tent sleeps two people and is equipped with stretcher beds, mattresses and fitted sheets. There is a private bucket shower behind the camp in the forest as well as a sit down toilet. Camping out in the wild is a marvellous experience. Mashose Mobile Camp gives you the opportunity to explore the Busanga Plains by morning, afternoon or all day game drives with your specialist Busanga guide. The Busanga Plains area is perfectly situated to see large numbers of red lechwe, but is also well known for the big lions, buffalo, elephant, wildebeest and relaxed roan antelope.
After breakfast, we will depart for Busanga. Much of the drive, which is just shy of 6 hours, is between the Kafue National Park and the Lunga Luswishi GMA so the guides keep their eyes out for game, birds and interests fo the guests, keeping them entertained.
We usually stop under the miombos for a lunch somewhere after we have passed through the Jifumpa community. After signing in at Kabanga gate, we work out way through the forest to Mashoze.
The guests arrive to the camp, fully set up. The tents sleep two people, each tent has a stretcher bed, mattress and fitted sheets. There is a private bucket shower behind the camp in the forest as well as a sit down toilet. Upon arrival We give the guests an orientation and briefing and offer a short drive around the forest edge before sundown.
The following morning we awake early, have some tea / coffee and a light breakfast before heading out on the Plains.
Typically we do a game drive in the morning which extends up to Lunch. If the guests wish to stay out on the Plains, we do carry a pack lunch, or if they want to head back to Camp we happily take them. The afternoon is either a drive to the Plains or along the forest edge. We make a fire in the evening for the guests to enjoy after they have showered, dinner is served under the stars on the open Plain. At night the camp is well lit with hurricane lamps, creating a beautiful atmosphere.
The activities / schedule the following morning is very much the same, if the guests wish to alter anything they are welcome to request with us to do so.
After two full days on the Plains / three nights camping, we return to Kafue River Lodge.
